Museum of Roman Civilization (Museo della Civilita Romana) Rome, Italy
This museum is a house to two fascinating scale models that reproduce Rome in two different epochs, one is the early Republican Rome and other is city in the 4th century A.D.

National Gallery of Modern Art (Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna)
It is a short walk from the Etruscan Museum, and is situated high on a hill overlooking the valley. Here you can find Etruscan artifacts (like urns) and Roman statuary found in the ruins. Nile Mosaic, a very well known ancient Roman work houses here. The mosaic details the flooding of the Nile, a shepherd's hunt, mummies, ibises, and Roman warriors, among other things. The gallery consists of 75 rooms, also house the largest collection of works by Balla, Boccioni, De Chirico, Morandi, Manzù, Burri, Capogrossi,Degas, Cézanne, Monet, and van Gogh and Fontana.

National Etruscan Museum (Museo Nazionale di Villa Giulia) Rome, Italy
This is 16th century palace, which houses world-famous collection of ancient Roman and Etruscan sculpture and artifacts. Etruscans , who predated the Romans were known for their sophisticated art and design, left a legacy collection of art and artifacts. You can find the famous pollo from Veio (clothed, for a change) Dea con Bambino (Goddess with a Baby) and a greatly mutilated but still powerful Hercules with a stag. Palazzo Altemps Rome, Italy
This museum has ancient sculpture and features the Ludovisi art collection and many ancient sculptures, frescoes and painted ceilings, gems of the Roman Renaissance. For Art fans, its a must see. Palazzo Massimo alle Terme Rome, Italy
This palazzo was built from 1883 to 1887 and was opened as a museum in 1998. Most of the art that houses here, like frescoes, stuccoes, and mosaics, were discovered in excavations in the 1800s.There is a central hall where works representing the political and social life of Rome at the time of Augustus Caesar can be seen. The basement is a rare numismatic collection and an extensive collection of Roman jewelry.

Porta San Sebastiano Rome, Italy
It is Rome's finest preserved gateways, which has gone through series of renovations by various emperors and popes over the centuries. This large keystone arch built by Aurelian in 275 AD and was originally known as Porta Appia. The defeat of Robert of Anjou, king of Naples, in 1327 is engraved on the inside of the gate in 14th century.

Santa Maria del Popolo Rome, Italy
This Church was built onto the ruins of the Domitian theater, and houses beautiful mosaics and Roman statuary. This is the place where you can find fresco of Delphic Sibyl and the painting of the Madonna. The church has many chapels. Just after the entrance, there is the Della Rovere chapel which dates back to the 15th century on the right.

This is the place where you will find Michelangelo's exquisite ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It's stunning beauty attracts millions from all over the world. This is the place to see in Rome. However, due to its high popularity, it is usually very crowded. You may have to wait for as much as 2-3 hours! To avoid this, try going on weekdays. Also due to large crowd, there isn't much time to look at everything and find answers to questions. Due to minimal labeling, its a good idea to take along a very detailed guidebook. Villa Borghese Rome, Italy
This villa was constructed at the beginning of the 17th century for Cardinal Scipione Caffarelli Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V. The paintings and sculptures of villa are spectacular. It is surrounded by one of the largest and most beautiful public parks in Rome. It is not very big and tours are restricted to number of people and time allowed, which makes the walk through Villa very comfortable.You might want to take audio guide. Villa Farnesina Rome, Italy
This is where you will find the famous paintings Loggia of Cupid and Psyche and Galatea, Salone delle Prospettive, Scenes from the Life of Alexander the Great, the famous paintings. Villa Farnesina has been home to many great people including Julius Ceaser and Cleopatra who stayed here in 44 B.C. From 1508-1511, Agostino "il Magnifico" Chigi (1465-1520), the richest man in Europe lived in this villa built for him by the architect Baldassare Peruzzi .Some of Rome's grandest feasts and parties, the likes of which were unknown since the days of imperial Rome, were staged here, often for popes, diplomats, artists, philosophers, and even high-priced courtesans.
